Dr Tiffany Chen has a passion for providing quality eye care to her patients. Learn about her training and expertise below.

Dr. Tiffany Chen completed her studies at the University of California San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2012, and her doctorate of optometry from Southern California College of Optometry in 2016. She then finished a rigorous optometric residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2017, where she managed complex cases in post-surgical eyes, severely scarred corneas, aphakia, and other anterior segment abnormalities.

Her clinical experience during residency included a rotation through Baylor College of Medicine, Soper Brothers and Associates, Eye Excellence of Houston, and Slade and Baker Vision Center in Houston, TX. These experiences have allowed Dr. Chen to be very comfortable with specialty contact lens fittings, including soft prosthetic lenses, as well as managing various corneal diseases. In addition to her experiences during residency, Dr. Chen has been trained in managing ocular diseases during her time at Indian Health Services in Lawton, OK, San Diego Naval Hospital, and at the Veteran’s Affair CBOC in Sierra Vista, AZ.

Dr. Chen earned her fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) in 2017. Optometrists who become Fellows of the Academy must complete a thorough candidacy process, led by a panel of optometrists and vision scientists who must approve both written work and the oral examination. Fellows strive for the highest professional standards. In 2020, Dr. Chen earned her fellowship in the Scleral Lens Society (FSLS). Optometrists who have proven themselves in the field of scleral lens fitting can apply for status as a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society, entitling them to be listed on the SLS website as a scleral lens fitter, which is accessible to the public.

Dr. Chen actively participates in InfantSEE, which is a program that gives eye exams free of charge for any infant younger than 1 year old. Dr. Chen is licensed as a therapeutic optometrist and as an optometric glaucoma specialist in the state of Texas. This is the highest level of license that can be obtained by an optometrist in Texas. Dr. Chen is also a current member of the Northeast Texas Optometric Society (NETOS), which is the local chapter of the Texas Optometric Association (TOA). This group provides vital continuing education to most of the local optometrists in this area of the DFW metroplex.

Dr. Chen is prepared to help with general eye issues such as pink eye, styes, eye pain, visual field loss, floaters, and many other problems. Additionally, she can help with systemic medical issues such as diabetes, hypertension, high-risk medications (plaquenil among others), glaucoma, and more. Her main interests include corneal diseases and specialty contact lens fittings.
