Meet Nathan Dirks, OD

Dr. Nathan Dirks is a certified, licensed Optometric Glaucoma Specialist and Therapeutic Optometrist.
 

Throughout his education, he completed extensive training in detecting and treating serious eye diseases, such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. Dr. Dirks is certified in the treatment of eye infections, minor in-office surgeries including foreign body removal, as well as co-management of cataract and LASIK surgery. His passion within optometry has always been in glasses, fitting of specialty contact lenses, and treatment of dry eye.
 

Dr. Dirks was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. He began his optometric journey in 2008 as an optician where he learned a wealth of knowledge about frames and lenses and discovered his passion for providing patients with the best vision and eyewear possible. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, majoring in Biological Sciences. Dr. Dirks received his Doctor of Optometry in 2014 from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. After graduating he moved to Dallas as quickly as possible to get away from the snow.
 

Dr. Dirks has a genuine enthusiasm for delivering personalized eye care for each patient and helping improve the quality of his patient's lives by providing clear and comfortable vision. He takes pride in helping his patients maintain and improve their eye health using the latest in diagnostic technologies.
 

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters, and their dog Riley. He likes basketball, golf, being outdoors, country music, snowboarding, cooking, traveling, and watching movies. He is a member of the Dallas County Optometric Society, North East Texas Optometric Society, and helps serve his community by volunteering at the North Dallas Food Bank and with the Salvation Army.
